Windows Live also known as MSN Messenger is set to Shut down on October 31 this year in China where it still exists. The process of shutting down Windows Live began in April 2013. Users in the rest world had moved to Skype.

Confirming this, Chinese users of the service have received e-mail of its shutting down come 31st October. Microsoft has however advised its MSN Messenger user to migrate to Skype. In order to realize this, the company is giving each of them a $2 coupon for free calls.
MSN Messenger was first launched in 1999 and was officially rolled out in China in 2005.
