Five test positive for Indian Covid-19 variant in Kisumu

Kenya recorded five cases of the Indian Covid-19 variant the Ministry of Health announced Wednesday.

Acting Director General in the Ministry of Health Dr. Patrick Amoth told members of the press that the five were Indian national who came into the country just before a ban was placed on all flight from India.

Dr. Amoth said samples were taken from the Indian workers who had travelled to Kisumu adding that health officials were doing contact tracing concerning the same.

This comes even as India recorded over 234,000 Covid-19 deaths with the the total Covid-19 infection standing at over 21 million people.
