The Tanzania government has denied media reports that President Samia Suluhu had ordered the release on Kenyan political prisoners in the country.
Spokesperson Gerson Msigwa termed the reports as false adding that Tanzania did not have any political prisoners.
Citizen TV in a report on May 6 claimed that Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan had ordered 23 political prisoners be released.
Msigwa said that release of prisoners was a mandate of the Judiciary and not President Suluhu.
He urged media houses to stick to media codes of ethics when releasing reports concerning the government.
