Tanzania’s retired president Jakaya Kikwete gifted by President Samia

Dar-es-Salaam – Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu has gifted former president Jakaya Kikwete with a house.

The house was constructed by the Tanzania government in Dar-es-Salaam’s Kinondoni district in accordance with the country’s law.

President Samia thanked Kikwete for his service for the country and assured him that the government will continue taking care of retirees as directed by law.

The country’s first female president said will improve on the law and ensure that widows and widowers of former leaders are also taken care of.

She also used the opportunity to direct former President John Pombe Magufuli be awarded all his benefits by the Minstry of Public Service and good governance.

Kiwete served as the country’s fourth president for two terms between 2005 and 2015.
