Nigeria’s army chief, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru was Friday May 21 killed in a plane crash, Air Force spokesman Edward Gabkwet revealed.

Lieutenant Attahiru was on an official trip in Kaduna state when the plane carrying him and other passengers.
Spokesperson Gabkwet through said in a tweet, the crash happened near Kaduna International Airport which is some 180 kilometers north of the coutry’s capital, Abuja.
He said the cause of death was not immediately ascertained.
Attahiru took over as army chief in a major military reshuffle in January.
