MIGORI – A middle aged man was killed in Rongo sub-county Migori county while he was making an illegal power connetion in the area.

Felix Okoth died died atop a Kenya Power electricity pole at Kameji Mixed Secondary School where he had gone to reconnect the school with electricity that had been cut-off.

Officials from Kenya Power had cut-off electricity from the school over huge bill that had accumulated for years, prompting the school principal to seek the services of Okoth.

Family members blamed their kins death on the school stating that he had not undergone any training as an electrician to handle such a complex task.

They claimed the school’s principal Gordon Muga, contacted their kin and had promised him Ksh500 upon completion of the task.

Confirming the incident, area chief John Agoro urged officials from the Ministry of Education to inspect the conditions of electricity connections in the school to save the students from future accidents.
