NAIROBI – A student from Mount Kenya University bagged Ksh3.6 million after emerging the best in the MbelenaBiz competition organised by the Ministry of ICT, Innovation, and Youth Affairs.
MbelenaBiz is aimed at helping the youth in running enterprises and expand on business solutions in order to aid a business run successfully.
Mwanza Arunga, a Bachelor of Arts in Education student, emerged winner with her project that seeks to set up an animal feeds processing plant in Kakamega County.

Another MKU student Sylvia Wanjiku, studying procurement, won Ksh900,000 for her chocolate making business in Murang’a County.
They submitted their ideas in March 2020 and were among the 11,000 entries submitted to the competition.
The competition saw 750 winners selected after their ideas passed the minimum threshold in creativity and innovation.
ICT Cabinet Secretary Joes Mucheru said 203 had already received full funding in the initiative by the World Bank.
The Ksh1.5 billion project was launched three years ago by World Bank through the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) and managed by KPMG and an independent panel of judges.
