Blogger Robert Alai’s Subaru Outback has been impounded at the Kilimani police station, Nairobi County following a court ruling on Monday, August 9 in the case pitting him against gospel singer Ringtone Apoko.
According to court documents, Alai appealed to the court to have his vehicle released, alleging that it was not an exhibit in the case.

Justice Philip Mutua of Kibera Law Courts, however, declined the request stating that the details of the car involved were better suited for the police officer investigating the case.
Judge Mutua informed Alai to make a formal application to the trial court if he sought to have his vehicle released.
During the hearing, Alai pleaded not guilty to the charges stipulated against him – causing grievous harm to Ringtone.
The judge released him on a cash bail of Ksh300,000 and an alternative bond of Ksh1 million with a surety of a similar amount.
Furthermore, the blogger was warned against commenting on the case on social media or using proxies to communicate the same.
This is after Ringtone’s lawyer Evans Ondieki raised complaints that blogger Abraham Mutai had commented on the case on Monday morning, August 9. The case was adjourned on the same day.
Alai was arrested on July 24, 2021, after the musician lodged a complaint at Kilimani Police Station.
The singer alleged that the blogger refused to drive on at a junction when the traffic lights turned green.
I hooted and gestured him to give way, and instead, he started following my car along Oliotoktok Road.
He then blocked my way and started hitting me with a rungu (club) on the head. He has also damaged my car. I’m heading to the hospital,” Ringtone stated after the incident.
