A man pretending to be a woman was busted by police after ‘eating fare’ he was supposed to use to travel and meet another man.
Justin Kioko, a resident of Machakos, was arrested and is now facing charges of obtaining money through false pretense.
The 31 year old is accused of receiving Sh 344, 500 via MPesa from Godfrey Owino who said had planned for “her” to travel from Kilifi to Siaya county.
Owino said that the money was to cover a two-way flight ticket, shopping and for “her” to buy a brand new phone.
He said he had been admiring the man he thought was a woman for a while adding that they had been chatting over Facebook for a while.
On the fateful day, Owino is said to have taken a loan and sent all the money to the beautiful Kioko.
It is after sending the cash that things went silent from the other end and was eventually blocked.
