Gatundu MP Moses Kuria Angry as IEBC blocks his party candidate in by-election

Member of Parliament for Gatundu Moses Kuria is not a happy man after an aspirant in his party will not be taking part in a forthcoming a by-election.

According to Kuria, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) blocked Chama cha Kazi’s Milton Mwenda Kabobo.

This was after a successful petition by UDA South Imenti coordinator Salesio Mutuma Thuranira.

Mwenda was to take part in the Kiagu by election.


But the self proclaimed spokes person for the Mount Kenya region was not satisfied with the IEBC’s decision and vowed to challenge the decision in court.

On a post on his Facebook Page, said he will move to the High Court on Friday, September 23, to challenge the decision.

“Today the IEBC has disqualified the Chama Cha Kazi candidate for Kiagu By-Election Milton Mwenda Kabobo following a petition by the South Imenti UDA Coordinator Salesio Mutuma Thuranira. The party has been asked to submit a replacement candidate. We are dissatisfied with this decision and we will move to the High Court first thing tomorrow morning to challenge this decision”

IEBC had earlier on cleared Maendeleo Chapchap’s Haron Kaburu, Simon Kiambi of UDA, Jubilee’s Samson Magambo, Joseph Mwangi of Democratic Party and Patrick Kananda of Chama cha Uzalendo.

Others were Joshua Nabea of Ford Kenya, Party of Democratic Unity’s Scholastica Mwendwa, Douglas Kirimi of Safina, Nathan Gitonga of National Ordinary People Empowerment Union-Nopeu and Phillip Micheni ofPeoples Party of Kenya.

Cleared also was Kuria’s Party candidate, Mwenda.

The seat fell vacant after the death of MCC’s Eunice Karegi.
