Cabinet Re-shuffle: Who was moved where

President Uhuru Kenyatta has made significant changes to his Cabinet in an announcement made Wednesday, September 29. 

In a statement, State House spokesperson Kanze Dena said that CS Monica Juma moved to the Ministry of Energy from that of Defence.  

Juma is taking the place of CS Charles Keter who moved from the Ministry of Energy to that of Devolution.

Eugene Wamalwa, who served as Devolution CS, will move to the Ministry of Defense. 

The reshuffle also affected a number of PS’s where Maj General (Rtd) Dr. Gordon Kihalangwa will serve in the Ministry of Energy. He served as Principal Secretary of Public Works.

The State Department for Arid and Semi-arid Lands (ASALs) has been transferred to the Ministry of Public Service & Gender. 

Some State Departments have been merged where Social Protection, Pensions and Senior Citizens were transferred to the Ministry of Public Service & Gender.

Others are the Department of Special Programmes transferred to the State Department for Social Protection.

State Department of Pensions and Senior Citizens Affairs is renamed to the State Department for Social Protection, Senior Citizens Affairs and Special Programmes.

The Ministry of Devolution & the Arid and Semi-arid Lands ASALs has been reconstituted and renamed as the Ministry of Devolution.

 The Ministry of Public Service & Gender is hereby reconstituted and renamed as the Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affairs & Special Programmes; and the Ministry of Labour & Social Protection is hereby reconstituted and renamed as the Ministry of Labour.
