Voting in Nguu/Masumba wards in Makueni County kicked of Thursday morning as locals headed to polling stations elect their new ward representative.
This is after the position fell vacant following the death former MCA Harrison Ngui.
Ngui died in a road crash on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway in June.
The candidates are Eshio Mwaiwa (Wiper), Daniel Musau (UDA) and Timothy Maneno Independent candidate).
Maneno is supported by, among others, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana and Machakos Chief of Staff Mwengi Mutuse rallied behind Maneno in the mini-poll.
But some quarters in the Wiper party read ODM leader Raila Odinga’s hand in Maneno’s campaign.
The ward has 34 polling stations.
