President Kenyatta hosts MP’s and Senators for a luncheon at Statehouse

President Uhuru Kenyatta today hosted Members of Parliament and Senators allied to the Azimio La Umoja movement for lunch at Statehouse.

In a speech released by the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU), President Kenyatta called on the unity of politicians for the good of Kenyans.

The President reminded politicians to conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

He said he hoped politicians will carry on with the “spirit we have started with” till after the general elections late this year.

The meeting was also attended by ODM leader Raila Odinga who commended MP’s for passing the Political Parties (Amendment) bill.

Odinga said it was not wrong to bring changes to the constitution as even United States of America constitution was work in progress.

“They say that a good idea always yields to a better idea, and a better idea would yield to the best idea. So what you guys are doing is basically trying to improve governance in our country. So we really want to thank you very, very sincerely for what you did,” said Odinga.

But a section UDA allied politicians were not happy with the Azimo only lunch invite.

Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga lamented that they were locked out of the luncheon.

“Sisi hustlers tumeambiwa kila mtoto acheze kwa mlango yao,” she said.
