Kenyan sprinter, Ferdinand Omanyala, is the new Ambassador in town after landing a deal with American company, Aids Healthcare Foundation (AHF).

But the announcement will be public on Thursday, January 20.

Omanyala will be the Ambassador for Vaccinate Our World (VOW) Campaign under AHF

The sprinter, who holds title for Africa’s fastest man is now the voice for vaccination across Africa.

The campaign seeks to boost uptake of Covid-19 vaccines in Africa which ranks lower compared to other regions.

“The eighth fastest man of all time in the 100-metre race will be expected to use his voice and influence to encourage as many people as possible across Africa to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“Africa as much lower compared to other parts of the world, due to the initial lack of vaccine supply as a result of hoarding by wealthy countries, and hesitancy by a significant number of people to get vaccinated,” the statement by AHF read in part.

Based in Los Angels, AHF is a global nonprofit organization providing cutting-edge medicine and advocacy to over 1,000,000 people in 43 countries.

An initiative by the American medical company, VOW is a digital advocacy campaign and seeks to urge world leaders to ensure vaccine equity worldwide.

Omanyala’s appointment comes barely a month after the athlete landed yet another lucrative job.

On December 3, 2021, Omanyala joined the General Service Unit’s (GSU) elite Recce Squad.

The sprinter joined the squad on special undisclosed terms.

Omanyala would take up a  new role that will see him represent the National Police Service and the country in future track events.
