How Ujuzi Teketeke is changing lives of Youth in Makueni – Governor Kibwana

Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana is leading a life changing programme targeting youth in Makueni County.

The programme dubbed Ujuzi Teketeke, seeks to uplift youth in the jua kali sector through training and later issued with job kits.

According to Governor Kibwana, the youth first undergo an a 8-week youth life skills training in their relevant fields.

This is done through established craftsmen offering on-the-job training to equip young people with industrial skills.

Ujuzi Teketeke

Learners then get start-up kits to implement skills they learn over the 8 week period in their businesses.

But craftsmen also get financial support even as they offer training to their apprentices.

Areas of focus include: Catering, Barber and salon, Mechanics, Plumbing, Carpentry, Masonry and Photography.

Others are video production, Agribusiness, Tailoring and Welding.

The is possible through the support of National Industrial Training Authority & Kenya National Juakali Federation.

In its first round, 184 youths received their tools of trade to begin their businesses in the Jua Kali sector.
