Ministry of Industrialization Chief Administrative Secretary David Osiany has made clear his future in 2022 politics.

This is in an announcement today on whether he will vie in the August polls on not.

Osiany, who ran for the Rongo parliamentary seat in 2017 stated that the decision follows consultation with close associates and family, as well as ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

“I have consulted my immediate and extended family. I have objectively ruminated and mulled over it with very close friends. I have also extensively consulted and deliberated on this with my party leader Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga,” the CAS said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

“After the depth and span of these consultations, there is convergence of opinion to stay out of the Rongo 2022 election and instead continue performing critical government assignments, especially during this crucial transition period.

“As such, I shall not offer my candidacy this year,” he added.

A former radio journalist who also boasts of past stints in consultancy for NGOs, Osiany lost his 2017 parliamentary bid at the ODM primaries but decried foul play in the party.

Following the death of Migori Senator Ben Okello in 2020, Osiany did not express interest in the by-election, saying that the citizens discouraged him from going for the seat.

“The people of Migori advised me against vying for the senatorial seat. However, I shall even go for the gubernatorial seat in the 2022 polls should they give me the nod,’’ he said at the time.

He was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta as the Industrialization CAS in February last year.
