How to apply KeNHA scholarships targeting KCSE D students

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced scholarships targeting students who scored D- and below in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

KeNHA released a notice on Tuesday, February 22, seeking students under the Kitale and Eldoret Town Bypass roads project.

These KeNHA scholarships targets  Kaiboi Technical Training Institute, Vera College and Kitale Vocational Training Center where the students will receive training.

Successful candidates will pursue courses such as Welding and Fabrication, Electrical Wireman, Motor Vehicle mechanics and Agricultural Engineering.

Other courses are Hairdressing, Electrical and Electronics Technology, Fashion Design, Masonry and Carpentry among others.

“The Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) programme will be implemented by a team of local selected technical and vocational training institute with Uasin Gishu County and Trans Nzoia County.

“The aim of this scholarship is to support a capacity development process during the project period that will assist the youth and people living with disabilities to be considered for training,” read the notice in part.

The KeNHA scholarship will cater for tuition fees, boarding fees as well as a stipend for the students.

How to Apply

Applicants are required to be aged between 18 and 35 years with no formal education at Diploma level.

They are also expected to be able to read and write, live in informal settlements. 

Interested candidates can download the application forms from KeNHA website and fill before dropping them at designated offices.

“Applications shall be received through the offices of the County Commissioners Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia or KeNHA Regional offices in North Rift,” read the notice.

Applications will be evaluated against key indicators followed by a physical presentation/vetting interview of applicants who meet the basic criteria.

Scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of a comparative evaluation of the applications submitted, of the requirements met and of the criteria relating to the merit established in association with other government agencies.

Names of successful candidates will then be published.

N/B: All forms to be received on or before 15th March, 2022.
