Disquiet over Direct Ticket in ODM Migori Nominations

The issuance of direct party ticket in the ODM nominations has ellicited mixed reactions from aspirants in various seats in Migori.

This is after talked emerged in various socials platforms that some aspirants, ‘riding on fame from previous elections’ had been issued with certificates.

Among the aspirants who came out to dispute the methods the ODM party had allegedly used to issue the nominations certificate in Migori were Senate aspirants lawyer Willies Misare and his engineer counterpart Victor Okuna.

Misare and Okuna in statements threatened to defy the party if it did not subject them to universal suffrage in selection of aspirants for their position.

In his statement, Misare said the party was not in order to rely on “name recognitions alone” as a basis of picking a candidate to fly the ODM senate flag in the August polls.

“Other matrices must be applied,” said Misare.

He added, ” If there will be no nominations, we shall address our next course of action then.”

Okuna on his part threatened to support any aspirant against the ODM’s preffered candidate if a particular candidate was handed a direct ticket.

“I will support any ODM aspirant even if he is Marwa from Kuria but not Eddy,” stated Okuna.

They were reacting to a talks in social media groups of ODM issuing a direct nominationg ticket to former two time Senate aspirant Eddy Oketch.

Misare and Okuna have mounted spirited campagins in the recent months in bid to succeed Ochillo Ayacko who is vying for Senate.

On the other hand their arch rival Oketch last held campaign rallies during IEBC’s mass voter registration drive.
