Jariel Ndeda Obura, has emerged the top student in the KCSE 2021 results announced by CS George Magoha on Saturday April 23, 2022.
Obura, studied at Mang’u High School where he scored a straight A of 87.167 points.
In an interview, Jariel Ndeda Obura attributed his impressive performance to constant revision and practice while at Mang’u School.

Obura said balancing all his subjects helped him become the top student in the 2021 KCSE exams.
“I have always put efforts in my studies. When I heard that I was Kenya one (top student), I was overjoyed,” said Obura.
But despite his outstanding performance, Obura acknowledged stiff competition at Mang’u High School adding that he was not always the top student in his class.
According to him, he was caught by surprise after his fellow candidates called him informing that CS Magoha had named him the best student during the announcement.

Obura’s University of choice, as opposed to what other top students always want, is Maseno University where he would like to study medicine.
The KCSE top student noted that his inspiration to pursue medicine was informed by his love for science subjects.
“I have always wanted to pursue medicine. I just loved sciences such as Biology and Chemistry since joining form one,” Obura stated.
He emerged top beating over 800,000 others who sat for the exams between March 11 and April 1, this year.
He was followed by Mukuha Timothy Kamau of Alliance High School who scored 87.139 points and Job Ngara of Mangu High School (87.1 points).
In the results, 789 male candidates scored A plain, beating their female counterparts who only had 349 A plains, summing to 1,138 candidates.
The results were announced at the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) headquarters on Saturday, April 23.
