Governor Mandago signs pact to see Uasin Gishu students Scholarship in Canada

Students from Uasin Gishu County will get opportunities to study at Northern Lights College in Canada, Governor Jackson Mandago said on March 19, 2022.

Governor Mandago said the County had signed an agreement with Northern Lights College, in a program which will facilitate the student’s study in Canada.

The Governor said the study program at the Northern Lights College will be sponsored by the County government of Uasin Gishu.

Through this, students will get an opportunity to study different courses in the Canada based institution as from September this year.

“I have signed a partnership pact between the County Government of Uasin Gishu and the Northern Lights College in Canada.

“This will allow Kenyan students from Uasin Gishu to study various courses in the Institution from September 2022. The program will be fully sponsored by the County Government of Uasin Gishu,” read a statement by Governor Mandago in part.

The governor revealed that he led a delegation that signed the agreement with Northern Lights College President and acting CEO Todd Bondaroff.

The two teams singed the agreement at the College campuses in Fort St John and Dawson Creek.

The governor noted that the move was in accordance with his administration’s plan to ensure youth get access to quality training for the job market.

“The program is part of my elaborate plan to open opportunities for quality training and jobs for the youths of Uasin Gishu,” said Governor Mandago.

Mandago is finishing his second and final term as the Governor for Uasin Gishu and has declared he will vie for the Senator seat of t he same county.

His followers on Facebook where he made the statement underscored his Senate ambitions, lauding him for the move.

Kamotho Ngûgî Kîmani on his part had this to say:

“Please make sure that the students are ready for the extreme cold weather of Dawson Creek. Sometimes temperatures go down to -40⁰C.

“But be assured that these students will eventually be absorbed into Canadian labor force after completion of their studies, more so if they are in the Health programs like Personal Support Workers(PSW) or Nursing.Karibuni Nyote,” he said.
