Former Nairobi county Governor Mike Sonko has come to the rescue of Alvin Linus Chivondo who was sentenced over shoplifting charges.

Chivondo is now a free man after Sonko paid his Ksh100,000 court fine handed to him by a Nairobi court Wednesday April 13, 2022.

According to Sonko, he took up the matter because many Kenyans were languishing in poverty and were having a hard time to afford their daily meal.

“Majority of Kenyans are languishing in poverty even to afford a daily meal for their families is a problem, it is because of this reason that I decided to pay the court fine for Mr. Alvin Linus Chivondo who was sentenced to one year imprisonment for stealing cooking oil,” tweeted Sonko.

The flamboyant politician also promised to give Alvin Chivondo food stock to last him one month.

The former governor also promised to link him with a job offer to sustain him during this hard economic times.

“I have also promised to give him a one month food stock plus offer him a job as well”

” Note: Haters should not politicise Alvin’s case as I’m not paying his fine to seek for any political mileage,” the Mombasa County governor hopefull added.
