
Atleast 8 contestants will be battling out for the UDA ticket on Thursday April 14, 2022 to become governor aspirants in Uasin Gishu County.

The winner among the nine will fly UDA ticket to take over from governor Jackson Mandago who will be completing his two year term this year.
Uasin Gishu County is perceived as a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) political stronghold and the Thursday nominations will be seen as some sort of a mini-general election.
Point to note is that Uasin Gishu is the home county of Deputy President William Ruto and the UDA party leader.

Uasin Gishu has an approximated registered voter population of 500,000 voters, a majority considered supporters of the DP and UDA.
Below is a list of Uasin Gishu County governor aspirants in the UDA party:
1. Jonathan Bii
Popularly known as ‘Koti Moja’, Jonathan Bii is having his third stab at the Uasin Gishu governor position.
He also once also ran against DP Ruto for the Eldoret North seat, albeit unsuccessfully.
2. Caleb Kositany
He is the current Soy Member of Parliament and close ally to DP Ruto.
3. Ambassador Sarah Serem
She once headed the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) before being appointed Kenyas ambassador to China.
4. Ambassador Prof. Julius Bitok,
The former Ambassador of Kenya to Pakistan is also eyeing the UDA governor’s ticket with this being his second stab at the governorship.
5. Veska Kangogo
Kangogo is another aspirant eying the Uasin Gishu County UDA ticket to replace Mandago. She served as a CEC in Nairobi City County.
6. Cleophas Tirop
The former Teacher Service Commission boss is in the race will be battling out for the UDA ticket with hopes of replacing Mandago.
7. David Sing’oei
He is the Uasin Gishu assembly chief whip and MCA for Ngenyilel Ward.
