Kisii County governor aspirants have come forward with only seven months to go, to the next general election 2022, politics is slowly taking shape.
In Kisii county, several aspirants have plunged into the race to replace current Kisii Governor James Ongwae.
Ongwae is completing his two terms since election into office in 2013 on ODM party ticket.
Kisii County has a population of 1,266,860 people with nine constituencies.

Here is a list of people who have shown interest in Kisii County governor aspirants position in 2022 general election.
Simba Arati
Arati is the current Member of Parliament for Dagorreti North Constituency in Nairobi.
He is serving in second term in the August house on ODM party after first his first election in 2013.
Gusii elders crowned him as the communities spokesperson in a strategic ceremony at his rural home in Kisii in 2018.
Ezekiel Machogu
Machogu is another aspirant who has set eyes on the Kisii gubernatorial seat to replace Governor Ongwae.
He serves as the MP for Nyaribari Masaba elected on the National Agenda Party of Kenya (NAPK) in 2017.
He also serves in the house committees: Committee on Regional Integration and Members Services and Facilities Committee.
Prof. Sam Ongeri
He was born Samson Kegengo Ongeri and serves at the current Senator Kisii County on ODM party ticket.
Prof. Ongeri has served that nation in various capacities as Minster.
He has also served in the Public service in different capacities as a medical doctor and also a lecturer at the University of Nairobi.
The 83 year old hails from Nyaribari Masaba.
UPDATE: Prof. Sam Ongeri decamped to Democratic Action Party which is under the Azimio La Umoja Umbrella, a party he hopes to use to ascend to the top county seat.
Joash Maangi
Maangi currently serves as the Deputy Governor for Kisii county, serving his second term.
He holds a Doctorate Degree in Juris (JD) from William Mitchel College of Law, in St Paul Minnesota, USA.
He also holds a Diploma in Laws from the Kenya School of Law and a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) from the University of Nairobi.
Omingo Magara
He was first elected MP for South Mugirango in a by-election in 2001 to replace his brother Enock Magara who died in a road accident.
He defended his seat in the 2002 and 2007 general election and opted to vie for Kisii Senate seat in 2013 and lost on People’s Democratic Party(PDP).
Magara will vie on UDA party.
UPDATE: Omingo Magara decamped from UDA to Jubilee party to go it to the finish line.
Christoper Obure Mogere
He is the immediate former Senator for Kisii county where he served after the 2013 general elections on ODM Party.
He was elected MP for Bobasi constituency in 2007 and went ahead to serve as Minister for Public Works in Government of National Unity.
However, he currently servers as the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
His bid received a major boost November last year after residents of Bobasi endorsed him to vie for governor.
The CAS unsuccessfully vied for the same seat in 2017 with Jubilee Party.
Janet Ongera
Ongera is the Women Representative of Kisii county after her election in 2017 on ODM Party ticket.
This was after ODM nominated her to the Senate where she served between 2013 up to 2017.
But she also served in the public service in different capacities including Kenya Airports Authority, State Counsel and Registrar of Titles.
Manson Oyongo
He was the MP for South Mugirango between 2013 and 2017.
Rachel Otundo
She resigned from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development to to join politics.
This is when she unsuccessfully vied for Nyaribari Chache in 2007, 2013 and 2017 general elections.
She currently serves in a lobby group, Kisii Governance Watch while practicing as a valuer and property consultant.
She is vying on an Independent party ticket.
Alfred Akunga
He first vied for the governor seat in 2013 under the United Republican Party and lost.
But his second stab at the top Kisii seat failed in 2017 after he lost to Chris Obure in Jubilee Party nominations.
