Shock as thieves steal dead body and rebury coffin

KISUMU – The body of Elijah Obuong, one of the Kitengela Four victims, went missing from his grave his grave on Wednesday night, June 2, Payuka has learnet. 

Obuong’s body is said to have been exhumed by unidentified people who fled with the body in a hearse.

Accoridng to Kisumu County Police Commander Samuel Anampiu, a group of seven people dug the grave, retrieved his body and buried an empty coffin.

Reports indicate that they then filled up the grave will soil and then fled away.

Anampiu said that the police suspected the hand of a family member who had opposed his burial his aunts place, in the disappearance of the body.

He said police were hot on the heels on the suspect behind the illegal exhumation and already officers from Koru police station were handling the matter.

Obuong’ disappeared alongside Jack Ochieng, Benjamin Imbai and Brian Odour before he was found dead in Murang’a.

An autopsy conducted at the Murang’a County Referral Hospital morgue later revealed that he died of strangulation.

His friend, Imbai’s body was later found at General Kago Funeral Home in Thika while Ochieng’ familly disowned a third body which was believed to be his.

Police are still searching for his body and that of Oduor.
